Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess 5510 USG | Data Sheet 3
Voice
Migration from traditional voice
telephony to VoIP is made easy by tight
integration of VoIP services with QoS and
firewall. OmniAccess USG routers provide
the highest throughput and lowest
latency for voice traffic. OmniAccess 5510
USG supports a hosted SIP Application
Layer Gateway (ALG) solution, which
enables the VoIP phones behind the
firewall to exchange voice and call control
messages with Session Border Controller
residing in Service Provider network.
Security
OmniAccess 5510 USG provides a robust
set of security features. The security-
first architecture protects the enterprise
networks from most sophisticated threats
and keeps abreast of new threat
mitigation software with support for
signature-based Intrusion Detection
System (IDS) /Intrusion Prevention System
(IPS). Protection against DoS attacks
provides extra security against rogue
users and campus hackers. A gamut of
IPSec VPN options are supported,
including site-to-site VPN for branches
and headquarter secure connectivity,
IPSec client for telecommuter and
Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN) to
ease the provisioning of any-to-any IPSec
tunnel mesh and the addition of new
sites. Dynamic mesh of the IPSec
tunnel also eases the voice deployment
for enterprises and SMBs because of
removing the voice ALG complications.
Instant Connectivity for Remote /
Nomadic Sites
OmniAccess 5510 USG can provide
immediate and low cost connectivity
through its 3G interface for remote
locations or for the branches requiring
an immediate connectivity. For
construction sites or retail stores which
require a fast deployment, a 3G interface
is the optimal solution. With support
for secure tunnels over a 3G interface,
OA 5510 USG ensures that newer
branch offices can be integrated in the
network within a short time span.
Carrier Managed Services
OmniAccess 5510 USG enables Service
Providers to offer differentiated
Managed VPN services and Managed
Security services to their enterprise
customers. As part of Managed VPN,
Service Providers can offer both
premium IP-VPNs and Layer 2 Carrier
Ethernet VPNs, which allows them to
differentiate their service offering from
a low margin bandwidth-only service.
OmniAccess 5510 USG integrates a
unified management layer that allows it
to be managed from a TR069-based
Alcatel-Lucent 5580 HNM or SNMP-
based 5620 SAM
1
from Alcatel-Lucent.
With support for true Zero touch
deployment through custom default
configuration, providers can save on
costly truck rolls to customer premises.

A comprehensive set of routing,
multi-VRF CE functionality, QoS
features, integrated management,
and Ethernet-OAM features in the
OmniAccess 5510 USG enables the
service providers to offer business class
Layer 3 VPN or Managed IP Access
services to their customers. The OAM
feature set is consistent with the
Alcatel-Lucent Service Router feature
set, thus enabling end-to-end services
troubleshooting and management by
the provider, and allowing them to
honor SLAs.
Carrier Managed Ethernet
Services
OmniAccess 5510 USG router enables
service providers to extend VPLS
enabled Carrier Ethernet VPNs to their
customers. Bridging Control Protocol
(BCP), Ethernet over Frame-relay,
Ethernet over cHDLC, Ethernet
Bridging over ADSL enables Ethernet
bridging on all WAN links including
Ethernet, TDM, Serial and ADSL.
This helps the Providers to offer
VPLS/Ethernet services even over
non-Ethernet WAN links to the
Enterprise customers. By delivering
Ethernet access over a range of access
technology, Service Providers can
leverage their investment on these
access technologies, and also leverage
them to go next-generation access
connectivity.
